MARION CENTER 12, HOMER-CENTER 2: Four Marion Center players had two hits or more, and the Stingers bounced back from their first loss of the season by thumping Homer-Center in a Heritage Conference game at Floodway Park. The game was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.

Marion Center jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead and then plated seven runs on five hits and a walk in the second to extend its lead to 10-0.

Kimmi Donaldson paced the Stingers with three singles. Heidi Peterson and Morgan Tonkin each had two singles and two RBIs.

Winning pitcher Megan Risinger fired a four-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none. Risinger also singled twice and drove in a run.

Allison Kishlock singled and doubled for Homer-Center.

Homer-Center’s Abby Plowcha struck out five, walked one and allowed 10 hits in a complete-game effort.

Marion Center (5-1) plays host to Homer-Center (2-4) today.
