Sikora stays atop leaderboard

PITTSBURGH — Former IUP standout Ryan Sikora took a two-stroke lead into today’s final round of the Frank B. Fuhrer Jr. Invitational golf tournament at the Pittsburgh Field Club.

Sikora, a Hannastown Golf Club pro, shot a 1-under 69 in Tuesday’s third round to take the lead over Mike Van Sickle at 4-under 206. Van Sickle shot a 71 after entering the round tied atop the leaderboard. Sikora is five shots clear of the rest of the field.

Another former IUP standout, Sean Knapp, shot a 73 Tuesday and sits at 219.

Jon Mills, an Indiana resident, had his best round of the tournament, shooting a 73 to check in at 229. He opened the tournament with a 75 and carded an 81 in the second round.

Dan Braun, the Indiana Country Club pro, is two behind Mills at 231 after shooting a 78.
