June 26, 2013 10:30 AM

Kovacik Insurance scored all of its runs after the third inning to put away United NRG in an Indiana County Youth Legion game shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule in Blairsville.

Josh Daugherty and Rick Shirley pounded out three hits each for Kovacik, which trailed 2-0 after the first inning but broke out for six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth before enforcing the mercy rule with five runs in the sixth.

Doug Pollock, Joseph Faulk and John Fetchko added two hits apiece. Daugherty and Pollock doubled.

Nate Fabrizio had two hits, including a double, for United NRG.

Corey Ramsden struck out six and walked two in six innings to earn the win.

Losing pitcher Beau Sheriff struck out three and walked three.

Both teams play this evening. Kovacik (13-3) plays host to Walbeck Insurance, and United NRG (1-14) welcomes Marion Center.
