SENIOR LEGION: MARION CENTER 4, KOVACIK INSURANCE 2

Marion Center scored twice in the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie and knock off the regular-season champion Monday.

Marion Center’s Jarek Selkirk scattered 11 hits and one walk, allowing lone runs in the third and fifth innings on RBI singles by Adam Magalich and Nick Payne.

C.J. Stiles paced Marion Center’s offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Hunter Stiteler and Adam Tomayko also accounted for RBIs.

Andrew Schultz suffered the loss, allowing six hits and six walks and striking out two in 5 2-3 innings.

John Distefano, Taylor Sheriff and Shultz each had two hits for Kovacik.

Both teams close the regular season this evening. Marion Center (12-7) plays host to Post 493, and Kovacik Insurance welcomes Young Township.
