Apollo got outhit 10-6 but used big rallies in the second and fifth innings to topple visiting Greensburg.
Apollo held a 4-3 lead before plating five runs on two hits, four walks and an error in the top of the fifth to take a 9-3 lead. Colt McDermott and Cody Galo each belted a two-run double in the inning.
Greensburg stranded 11 runners and Apollo left just four.
“The difference was the fact that when we got people on, we were able to score runs,” Apollo manager Andy Proch said. “That was basically it. They scattered all their hits, and we put timely hits together.”
McDermott finished 2-for-2, and Mike Bier singled and drove in three runs.
Ryan Held struck out seven, walked four and allowed six hits in a complete-game win.
Both teams play Thursday. Apollo (8-15) travels to Amfire Mining, and Greensburg (3-17) visits Bovard.
