BEAVER (AP) — Authorities have dropped charges against a man who had been accused of beating his wife with a package of frozen ground beef.

The Beaver County Times reported that William Neugebauer, 51, of Aliquippa, appeared in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing in Beaver County.

Charges of simple assault, reckless endangering, and harassment were dismissed after Wendy Neugebauer said she didn’t want to move forward with prosecution.

Police had alleged that the two were arguing Aug. 6 when the defendant grabbed a package of ground beef from the freezer and struck his wife in the rib cage.
