Stewart museum, IUP sponsoring film fest

The Jimmy Stewart Museum, in conjunction with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania English department, is sponsoring a Frank Capra Film Fest and Writing Competition.

The museum will present a series of film showings of the collaborative work of Jimmy Stewart and director Frank Capra. The films are open to the public and are being presented in conjunction with a writing contest for high school, undergraduate and graduate students.

Prize money of $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place will be awarded. Categories include poetry, creative prose, essay and research essay. Competition materials must be submitted to Tom Slater by 5 p.m. on Nov. 30.

The films will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Jimmy Stewart Museum Theater on the following dates:

• Sept. 12: “You Can’t Take It With You”

• Oct. 10: “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”

• Nov. 14: “It’s A Wonderful Life”

Contest materials are available at www.iup.edu/newsitem.aspx?id=158815&blogid=5693. The films are open to the public and admission to all films is $3.
