JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Newhouse, Wildcats clobber Stingers

Lexie Newhouse notched a double-double to lead Homer-Center to a 40-9 win over Marion Center in a ninth-grade girls’ basketball game Thursday in Homer City.

Newhouse also posted game-highs in rebounds and steals with 10 and 6, respectively. Gabby Leysock added eight points and seven steals, and Emily Worcester had six points and eight steals.

Homer-Center won the seventh- and eighth-grade game, 17-5.

Homer-Center (2-0) travels to Penns Manor on Tuesday.

 

BLAIRSVILLE 55, SALTSBURG 17: Three Blairsville players reached double figures in scoring and the Bobcats rolled over visiting Saltsburg.

Rena Enterline scored a game-high 18 points for the Bobcats. Faith Yanoff added 11 points for Blairsville, and Sidney McCulley had 10.

Isabel Satler led Saltsburg with eight points.

Blairsville won the seventh- and eighth-grade game, 21-7.

Blairsville (2-0) plays host to United on Tuesday.

 

PENNS MANOR 63, PURCHASE LINE 40: Maddie Weaver scored a team-high 22 points to power Penns Manor to a win over Purchase Line.

Purchase Line’s Megan Faught led all scorers with 24 points in a losing effort.

Penns Manor won the seventh- and eighth-grade game, 19-16.

Penns Manor (1-1) and Purchase Line (1-1) each play at the Penns Manor tournament on Saturday.
