As part of the inaugural Northern Appalachian Folk Festival in Indiana, participants marched in a puppet parade Friday on Philadelphia Street. The puppets were assembled by the community under the direction of Brian Jones, general partner at The Artists Hand. Leading the parade, from left, are Mike Powers, director of electronic communications at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; his wife, IUP English professor Heather Powers; William Kline, a junior communications media major; and Michael Hood, dean of IUP’s College of Fine Arts. The folk festival continues through this evening in downtown Indiana with workshops, a Children’s Alley and musical performances.
