Megan Rose Filler, daughter of Carol R. Anslinger of Indiana, and John H. Filler Jr. of Penn Run, and Gerald Revere Vallies III, son of Gerald R. Vallies Jr. and Kimberly A. Vallies, of Dayton, were united in marriage during a candlelight ceremony March 30, 2013, at Lingrow Farm in Leechburg.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Pastors Scot and Tammie Pifer performed the ceremony. Music was provided by bagpiper Duane Mohney, of Ebensburg. The bride’s 99-year-old grandfather, William Fackiner, of Indiana, sang a special solo, accompanied on the guitar by the bride’s aunt, Janet Zahl, of Anaheim, Calif.
Megan wore a strapless Casablanca sweetheart cut gown of ivory lace. The gown featured hand-embroidered designs and beads on the bodice and a scalloped semi-cathedral train. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of roses, astilbes, lotus pods, and a gardenia in memory of her grandmother.
The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns of eggplant satin. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of purple, white and green flowers.
The bridal party included maid of honor Laurie Hetrick, of Indiana; and bridesmaids Leigh Hetrick, of Pittsburgh; Stephanie Cribbs, of Home; Kristi Bowser, of Kittanning; Brittney Filler, sister-in-law of the bride, of Michigan; and Samantha Holt, of Ohio.
The best man was Drake Vallies, brother of the groom, of Dayton. Groomsmen were Gary Smidga, of Homer City; Gerald Vallies Jr., father of the groom, of Dayton; Jimmy Gunter, of Plumville; Andrew Filler, brother of the bride, of Michigan; and Michael Renosky, of Dayton.
Following the ceremony, a formal sit-down dinner was held at Lingrow Farm with entertainment by DJ Rockin’ John, of Leechburg.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Marion Center Area High School; a 2010 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education; and a 2011 graduate of IUP with a Master of Education degree in literacy. Megan is a reading specialist at W.A. McCreery Elementary School in the Marion Center Area School District.
The groom is a 2005 graduate of West Shamokin High School; a 2011 graduate of Tabernacle Bible College and Seminary with a Bachelor of Religious Theology and Arts degree; and a 2011 graduate of Cambria-Rowe Business College with an Associate of Specialized Business degree. Jerry is a nondestructive tester at Tilly’s Pressure Test in Indiana.
Following a honeymoon in Cozumel, Mexico, Jerry and Megan are residing in Indiana.
