PUNXSUTAWNEY (AP) — State police have planned a news conference to announce details of their investigation into human remains found in a western Pennsylvania creek over the weekend.
Troopers have scheduled the briefing for 2 p.m. today at the Punxsutawney barracks.
That’s not far from where remains of an unidentified white man were found Sunday in Mahoning Creek in the tiny village of Hamilton, in Perry Township.
The Jefferson County coroner is also investigating, but could not immediately be reached for comment.
State police officials say details of the rapidly developing investigation will be announced at the news conference, but not before.
It was not immediately clear how police were notified of the remains, some of which were recovered by dive teams.
