Derry wins on new tennis courts

DERRY — Derry won its first match on its new courts, topping Southmoreland, 4-1, in a WPIAL Section 1-AA match Monday.

Derry christened its new courts last week against Indiana, but that match was not completed due to rain.

The singles trio of Jill Orazio, Hunter Hudson and Maria Palumbo swept their matches in straight sets. Natalie Sarnese and Paige Lupyan teamed up for a doubles victory.

Derry plays host to California today.
