JUNIOR HIGH CROSS COUNTRY: IJHS boys’ team wins two of three

JEANNETTE — Indiana topped two of three teams in a junior high quadrangular cross country meet with Penn-Trafford, Latrobe and Gateway on Monday at Bushy Run Battlefield.

The Indiana boys defeated Penn-Trafford, 21-36, and Gateway, 20-41, but fell to Latrobe, 18-41.

Mark Wagner finished sixth in 9 minutes, 52 seconds to pace the boys’ team. Also placing in the top 30 were Isaac Evans (seventh), Matt Berzonsky (10th), Joey Bujdos (14th), Rocco Fanella (18th), Giaco Gentile (23rd) and Brandon Bosley (26th).

The Indiana girls fell to Penn-Trafford, 26-31, Latrobe, 21-35, and Gateway, 27-29.

Clara Sherwood finished seventh and led Indiana with a time of 10:54. Also placing in the top 30 were Kara Gibbon (10th), Maddie Todd (13th), Sydney Wells (14th), Isabella McCabe (21st), Shaelyn Waltemire (25th) and Jennifer Brice (30th).
