Supporters of the Indiana Area School District will get the chance to be a part of the high school’s “Homecoming experience” Friday when the school holds its annual pep rally and parade.
The event, held “to promote school spirit and a positive atmosphere within the community,” according to pep rally and life skills support teacher Lori Dadson, will begin at 4:45 p.m. on North Seventh Street in downtown Indiana. Speaking will be IASD Superintendent Dale Kirsch, high school Principal Wade McElheny, Athletic Director Pat Snyder, high school football coach Mark Zilinskas, Indiana University of Pennsylvania President Dr. Michael Driscoll and IUP football coach Curt Cignetti.
Members of the 2013 homecoming court will also be introduced.
Fans can then head over to Fifth Street Stadium with the cheerleaders and marching band in a parade.
New this year will be a pre-game party, where fans can celebrate homecoming at the soccer field on Fifth Street.
According to Dadson, school clubs, teams and organizations will be selling food items and team clothing. In addition, there will be a mini kids carnival.
At 7 p.m., the Indiana Indians take on the Highlands Golden Rams.
The game is a red out, meaning fans are asked to wear red.
