HIGH SCHOOL GOLF ROUNDUP: Both Indiana teams post wins

Indiana went outside WPIAL section play and topped Kiski School, 191-204, in a high school boys’ golf match Wednesday at Totteridge Golf Club in Greensburg.

Indiana’s Matt Holuta and Kiski’s Mark Goetz each shot a 37 to tie for the medalist honor. John Louis Gatti carded a 38, Wade Semick and Sam Stever each shot a 40, and Kyle Grube finished with a 44 for Indiana.

C.J. Hughes, who is from Indiana and plays for Kiski, shot a 39.

On Tuesday, Gatti, Holuta and Grube advanced to the WPIAL Individual Championships in qualifying at Hannastown Golf Club. Gatti fired a 76, Holuta shot a 68, and Grube carded a 79 in the semifinal round. The championships will be held Wednesday at Diamond Run in Sewickley.

Indiana is 11-1 overall and 9-1 in Section 1-AAA play entering Monday’s match at Norwin.

 

IHS GIRLS EARN SECTION WIN: Indiana improved to 6-6 overall and 5-6 in the section by outlasting Gateway, 193-205, in a WPIAL Section 3-AAA girls’ golf match Wednesday at Murrysville Golf Club.

Logan Everett posted a 42 to lead Indiana. Alexa Strong fired a 43.

Gateway’s Johnna Beehner shot a 41 and was the medalist.

Indiana travels to Fox Chapel on Wednesday.
