H.S. FOOTBALL: Derry gets lead but not a win
DERRY — At least Derry made some kind of progress but suffered its fifth lopsided loss of the season, 57-7 to Hollidaysburg, on Friday night.
The Trojans scored in the first quarter and held a lead, both for the first time this season, but Hollidaysburg (2-3) went on to score 51 unanswered points in a WPIAL Greater Allegheny Conference game.
Derry trailed 6-0 after giving up a 71-yard run but took a 7-6 lead when Kyle Holmes dashed 54 yards and Andrew Downey kicked the extra point.
The Trojans gave up more than 50 points for the fifth time this season. Derry has been outscored 287-27 this season.
Derry plays host to Highlands on Friday.
