PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police have arrested a man who allegedly spray-painted graffiti at a park where a huge rubber duck is moored offshore.

Police say that Ryan Sigesmund, 34, address unknown, was arrested at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after a security guard for the 40-foot-tall duck heard sounds. Another suspect wasn’t apprehended.

Authorities also found a bag containing quotes similar to those sprayed on a 60-foot section of Point State Park, such as “life is intelligence.”

The park is at the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers, and the rubber duck, an art project, is moored nearby.

Police said they have a responsibility to ensure a safe environment for people who come to see the duck.

No attorney was listed on court papers and Sigesmund couldn’t be located for comment.
