GREENSBURG — IUP made a valiant second-half charge, but the Crimson Hawks couldn’t overcome the three-goal deficit they faced and lost to Seton Hill, 6-3, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference field hockey game Wednesday.

Late in the opening half, Seton Hill scored twice less than two minutes apart to take a 2-0 lead, which stood at halftime. In the opening five minutes of the second half, the host Griffins struck again to build a 3-0 lead.

IUP fought its way back into the game, with Jillian Duld and Dani Edwards scoring less than five minutes apart to pull the Crimson Hawks within 3-2.

Seton Hill extended its lead to 4-2 five minutes later, but Jessica Kida scored for IUP to bring the Hawks within a goal with 15½ minutes to play.

Seton Hill then scored twice in the final eight minutes to pull away from IUP.

IUP (3-8) welcomes Mercyhurst on Saturday.
