HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Indiana boys match single-season school record for wins
David Zimmerman broke the single-season scoring record and Indiana matched the single-season wins record in a 4-1 victory over Bishop Canevin in a WPIAL non-section boys’ soccer game to end the regular season Tuesday at Andy Kuzneski Field.
A junior, Zimmerman scored two goals to lead the Indians, pushing his season total to 20 and eclipsing teammate Cole Rosenberger’s previous record of 19, set last season.
Rosenberger and Braydon Sharbaugh scored the other two goals for Indiana.
Goalkeeper Corey Denlinger made seven saves.
Indiana (14-3-1) will learn its WPIAL Class AA playoff seeding and first-round opponent today.
• MOUNT PLEASANT — Luca Covato took the feed from Dale Pearce and scored in the third minute of the first overtime to give Calvary Baptist a 2-1 victory over Mount Carmel Christian in a non-conference match.
Andy Knupp scored the Patriots’ goal in regulation, and Joel Knupp made eight saves.
Calvary Baptist outshot Mount Carmel 13-6, even after registering just two shots in the first half.
Calvary Baptist (9-2) visits Bethel Christian on Thursday.
