HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Comets sweep past Stingers, improve to 11-2

Penns Manor made quick work of host Marion Center, sweeping the Stingers, 25-11, 25-11, 25-18, in a Heritage Conference girls’ volleyball match Tuesday night.

Sarah DaBella led the Comets with 14 kills and five blocks. Mary Roach added eight kills and nine digs. Mallory Drahnak dished out 28 assists.

Penns Manor won the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-15.

Both teams play home matches Thursday. Penns Manor (11-2) welcomes Ligonier Valley and Marion Center plays host to Blairsville.

 

BLAIRSVILLE 3, PURCHASE LINE 1: Blairsville defended its home court with a 24-26, 25-17, 25-11, 25-16 victory over Purchase Line in a Heritage Conference match.

Kia Clayton led Blairsville with 11 kills and Mary Ann Ostach added six. Kristina Pizer had 12 assists.

For the Red Dragons, Jacelyn Fleming had 10 kills, Amy Elling 18 assists and Ashley Goodlin seven digs, eight assists and eight service points.

Purchase Line won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 22-25, 15-12.

Both teams play on the road Thursday. Blairsville (6-6) travels to Marion Center and Purchase Line (6-8) visits Northern Cambria.

 

LIGONIER VALLEY 3, UNITED 1: Host Ligonier Valley dispatched United, 25-17, 22-25, 25-6, 25-11, in a Heritage Conference match.

Becca Kromel tallied 15 service points, four aces and eight kills for the Rams. Amanda Ross led with 15 kills. Rachel Wallace had nine digs.

Ligonier Valley won the junior varsity match, 25-10, 25-15.

Both teams play Thursday. Ligonier Valley (12-3) travels to Penns Manor, and United plays host to Homer-Center.

 

CALVARY BAPTIST 3, MOUNT CARMEL 1: Calvary Baptist defeated Mount Carmel Christian, 25-17, 18-25, 25-15, 25-23, in a non-section match in Mount Pleasant.

Kayla Chambers had 17 service points, four aces and four kills for the Patriots. Megan Plants had nine kills and three aces.

Calvary Baptist (6-4) visits Bethel Christian on Thursday.
