Volunteers are needed to participate in an American Red Cross simulated exercise of sheltering individuals with special needs.

This simulated exercise will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Homer City on Nov. 15 and 16 from 5 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday and will be a practice session in setting up a shelter in case one needs to be activated in a disaster situation for individuals faced with vision, hearing, mobility  and other challenges.

Anyone wishing to stay overnight will receive a cot, blanket, pillow and personal comfort kit for use in the shelter. There will also be an opportunity for volunteers to receive a flu shot from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Shifts are from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. to noon Saturday.

To volunteer, contact Georgia Lehman at georgia.lehman@redcross.org or call (724) 465-5678 or Skip McGreevy at (724) 349-2356.
