Volunteer day set
October 24, 2013 10:50 AM

Saturday is Make a Difference Day, a national day of service, and local volunteers will again collect donations of food for the Indiana County Community Action Program’s food pantries.

According to ICCAP, the food pantries help feed more than 5,000 people monthly in about 1,900 Indiana County households.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, volunteers will be accepting donations of food and cash for the food pantries at eight locations: Indiana Walmart; Kmart; Giant Eagle; the Indiana BiLo; the Homer City BiLo; Tate’s in Clymer; Saltsburg Shop ‘n Save; and the Blairsville Walmart.

ICCAP recommends donations of nonperishable items such as canned fruits, vegetables and soups, box dinners, pasta, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce and personal hygiene items.

Checks should be made payable to “ICCAP,” and “food bank” should be entered on the check’s memo line.
