Numerous defendants have been named in criminal charges filed before Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Rega, of Blairsville.

Criminal complaints and affidavits of probable cause are not evidence of guilt in a criminal case. Defendants are entitled to legal representation and have the right to question the witnesses and evidence presented against them during preliminary hearings in the district court and at trials in the county court of common pleas.

Charged were:

• Alexys Lynn Ammon, 22, East Burrell Street, Blairsville, charged Aug. 12 by the Indiana County Sheriff’s office with possession of drug paraphernalia (several stamp bags) at 2:15 p.m.m Aug. 8 at Old William Penn Highway and Vine Street, Burrell Township. Prosecutors withdrew the charge, and Ammon instead pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined.

• Jacob Shane Penrose, 27, Parkwood Road, Shelocta, charged Aug. 6 by state police with possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:30 a.m. July 18 at 6527 Parkwood Road, Young Township. Prosecutors withdrew the charge, and Penrose instead pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined.

• Michael Anthony Zaffuto, 44, Water Street, Avonmore, charged Sept. 16 by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol and four summary traffic violations at 2:34 a.m. Aug. 18 at Route 286 West and Mine Road, Center Township. Zaffuto had a blood alcohol content of 0.135 percent, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.

• Zachary Neva Davis, 24, last known address of Point Street, Saltsburg, charged Sept. 16 by state police with corruption of minors April 16 and 17 at 827 Pine St., Saltsburg. The charge was held for court.

• Denise Yantis, 32, West Burrell Street, Blairsville, charged Sept. 16 by Blairsville police with four counts of endangering the welfare of children from January 2010 to November 2012 at 58 W. Burrell St., Blairsville. Yantis waived her right to a preliminary hearing and will face the charges in court.

• Kristi Lee Knapp, 42, Dunn Avenue, Blairsville, charged Sept. 17 by state police with DUI and six summary traffic violations at1:28 a.m. Aug. 15 at North Walnut Street, Blairsville. Knapp had a BAC of 0.141 percent, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.

• Kenneth M. Juart, 34, North Fourth Street, Indiana, charged Sept. 13 by Indiana police with simple assault Sept. 9 to Sept. 12 at 129 North Fourth St., Apt. A. Prosecutors withdrew a charge of terroristic threats, and Juart waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the remaining charge and will face it in court.

• James M. Oskey, 35, East Market Street, Blairsville, charged Sept. 14 by Blairsville police with a third degree felony count of retail theft at 12:35 a.m. Sept. 14 at Sheetz, Blairsville. Oskey waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will face the charges in court.

• Lance Jenezon Schmidt, 22, Mitchell Drive, Latrobe, charged Sept. 4 by Blairsville police with felony counts of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault and misdemeanor counts of aggravated indecent assault April 9 in Blairsville. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

• Nancy Jane Evanick, 65, Coal Run Road, Clune, charged Sept. 16 by state police with retail theft at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 14 at Walmart, Burrell Township. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.

• Lisamarie Irene Ross, 29, Bridge Street, Blairsville, charged Sept. 12 by state police with possession of drug paraphernalia (syringes and spoons) at 9:45 a.m. July 13 at 56 Bridge St., Burrell Township. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.

• Patricia Ally Barbarich, 23, Beaverdale, charged Sept. 9 by private complaint with retail theft Aug. 19 at Walmart, Burrell Township. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 13.

• Jacqueline Wiest, 20, charged Sept. 9 by private complaint with retail theft Aug. 1 at Walmart, Burrell Township. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 13.

• Amber R. Plummer, 27, Beaverdale, charged Sept. 9 by private complaint with retail theft Aug. 19 at Walmart, Burrell Township. Plummer waived her right to a preliminary hearing and will face the charge in court.

• Richard Tyler Metzler, 20, Ash Road, Vandergrift, charged Sept. 9 by state police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and two summary traffic violations Aug. 15 at Elders Ridge and Nowrytown roads, Conemaugh Township. Metzler had THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in his blood, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 20.

• Bryan Grant Maines, 38, North Ridge Road, Shelocta, charged Sept. 9 by state police with possession of drug paraphernalia (two hypodermic needles, four stamp bags, a spoon and cotton swab) at 9:17 a.m. July 10 off Plaza Drive, Burrell Township. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 27.

• Timothy Lee Blair, 46, South Second Street, Indiana, charged Sept. 3 by state police with DUI and four summary traffic violations at 12:39 p.m. Aug. 4 on Iselin Road, Young Township. Blair had a BAC of 0.23 percent, according to court documents. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will face the charges in court.

• Harrison Joseph Plazio, 22, Old Route 56, Shelocta, charged Sept. 3 by state police with DUI and two summary traffic violations at 4:25 a.m. Aug. 4 at Old Route 56, Young Township. Plazio had a BAC of 0.10 percent, according to court records. Plazio waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will face the charges in court.

• Nathaniel Scott Trump, 25, Westmoreland Avenue, Avonmore, charged Sept. 3 by state police with DUI and four summary traffic violations at 5:30 a.m. Aug. 3 at Black Legs Road, Young Township. Trump had THC in his blood, according to court records. The charges were held for court.

• Jerry Ryan Louder, 19, South Stewart Street, Blairsville, charged Sept. 3 by state police with DUI and nine summary traffic violations at 6:30 a.m. Aug. 30 at Rose Road, Conemaugh Township. Louder had THS in his blood, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

• Ashley Suzanne Lacki, 30, Pittsburgh, charged Sept. 2 by state police with DUI and three summary traffic violations at 12:50 a.m. Aug. 2 at Route 22 near Socialville Road, Burrell Township. Lacki’s BAC was 0.09 percent, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 20.

• Ashley Gray, 20, Bently Drive, Blairsville, charged Sept. 25 by Blairsville police with causing an accident that resulted in injury, driving without a license and a summary vehicle violation at 5 a.m. Sept. 4 at East Market Street, Blairsville. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

• Michael Shane Stewart, 22, Cripps Street, Black Lick, charged Sept. 24 by state police with DUI and three summary traffic violations at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Coal Road, Blacklick Township. Stewart’s BAC was 0.09 percent, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 20.
