H.S. FOOTBALL: Indiana 28, Ringgold 14
MONONGAHELA — DeQuan West rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Indiana offense, and Jordan Casses keyed the defense with an interception return for a touchdown as the Indians opened the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs with a win over Ringgold on Friday at Joe Montana Stadium.
Indiana (5-5) entered the game as the No. 9 seed in the 16-team bracket. The Indians used a rugged defense to hold the high-powered Rams (7-3) to only 311 total yards. Ringgold quarterback Nico Law, who rushed for more than 1,100 yards in the regular season, was held to 99 yards on 17 carries, including an 81-yard touchdown run. Otherwise, Law had 18 yards on 16 carries.
West led an Indiana offense that gained 380 total yards. Casses added 64 yards on 12 carries, and Sean Thompson passed for 155 yards and rushed for one score.
Indiana plays top-seeded West Allegheny, a 38-6 winner over Hollidaysburg, next Friday in the quarterfinals at a site to be determined.
