Deputies of the Indiana County sheriff’s office performed 268.5 hours of court security in October, 726 hours of security for court-related facilities, and 141 hours of transportation of 83 inmates, according to a monthly activity report.
The deputies screened 12,943 people at the courthouse and 1,302 others at the domestic-relations office.
Sheriff Robert Fyock reported the deputies served 154 civil papers, 18 protection from abuse orders, and 49 bench warrants. They conducted 39 real estate sales and seven personal property sales, and assisted at three evictions.
According to the report, the deputies issued four traffic citations and four warnings, received six complaints and assisted other police agencies eight times during the month.
The office issued 198 firearms permits, two firearm dealer licenses and one precious-metals license in October, Fyock reported.
State police, Indiana
State police at the Indiana station responded to 1,042 calls for service in October, officials reported.
Investigators in the criminal division received 254 reports of offenses and ruled that two were unfounded. Troopers cleared 146 criminal offenses and arrested 185 people.
On area highways, patrol officers investigated 93 accidents that resulted in 17 injures and one death.
Police connected six of the accidents to alcohol use.
Troopers arrested 19 motorists for driving under the influence, and issued 584 citations and 328 warnings, including 19 for seat-belt violations and one for a child safety seat infraction.
Officers assisted 19 motorists and performed 228 commercial motor vehicle inspections.
State police, Kiski Valley
State police at the Kiski Valley station near Apollo responded to 903 calls in October, including 62 reports of criminal offenses, a monthly activity report shows.
Investigators found one complaint was unfounded, cleared 29 others and filed charges against 35 people,
On the highways of northwestern Westmoreland and southern Armstrong counties, the troopers responded to 16 accidents that resulted in 10 injuries.
Police arrested four motorists for DUI and determined one crash was DUI related.
The officers issued 271 citations and 78 warnings, including seven for seat-belt violations and one for a child safety seat offense.
Troopers at Kiski Valley also assisted 30 motorists last month.
