Letter to the Editor: Stop abuse of disability system
November 13, 2013 10:29 AM

I am a concerned taxpayer who works for a living to support my family as I struggle from paycheck to paycheck.

It makes me sick that Social Security is handed out to anyone as long as they claim to have a “disability.” When did being lazy become a disability?

My point is that they make it too easy for people to receive Social Security who don’t even need it, and clearly have nothing wrong with them.

When you call Social Security to report a fraud, they require you to have the person’s Social Security number, age and all the above. So how do you go about doing this?

My question for government officials is why can’t we appoint a person to go over all these Social Security claims again?

I believe a third to a half of them will be found guilty and able to hold a full-time job, reducing the government’s deficit.

I truly hope a government official reads this and starts investigating. I want Social Security to be here for me when it is time for me to retire.
