Two hurt while escaping fire

Two people were flown to a hospital after suffering injuries while trying to escape from a burning home Saturday morning in Jefferson County.

According to state police in Punxsutawney, Kimberly L. Stormer, 41, and an unidentified 17-year-old boy were taken to UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh for treatment. Police said they and three others were injured while fleeing the home at 331 Pine St. in Punxsutawney Borough.

Police said the fire was reported at around 7:28 a.m. The other three occupants are Destiny D. Kephart, 21, and two children aged 13 and 1.

They were taken to Punxsutawney Area Hospital where they were treated and released on Saturday, police said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

A state police fire marshal is investigating.
