As the holiday season quickly approaches, students of the Electrical Occupations program at Indiana County Technology Center are helping their community.
The students are putting their skills and knowledge into something truly eye-catching.
The Chamber of Commerce of Indiana asked the ICTC electrical program to help the community with a very special project.
The project produced 3,100 feet of Christmas lights for the decorations in downtown Indiana.
Everyone here is proud that ICTC students can use their skills to help downtown Indiana produce an extravagant Christmas light show that can be enjoyed on your way home in the evening.
Many people look forward to this season for Indiana’s lights, so we applaud our students for doing such an amazing voluntary action.
The Digital Media Technology students at the ICTC were recently selected as one of five finalists nationwide for their video submission to the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) annual Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest.
The 29-second video, titled “What’s Your Super Power,” promotes career and technical education through the assigned PSA theme of “Celebrating CTE Superheroes.”
The five finalists were selected by a panel of judges assigned by the ACTE.
The final judging will be determined through community votes through the ACTE website and Facebook page.
The two videos receiving the most votes will be awarded first and second place and videos will be used as promotional materials for all career and technical education facilities across the United States.
The videos will also be displayed on the ACTE website during the month of February, designated as Career and Technical Education Month. In addition to this national recognition, $750 will be awarded for first place and $250 for second.
The students ask for community support in the form of votes.
Please help our students, school and community earn national recognition by visiting www.acteonline.org/ psacontest_voting/ and cast your vote for the video “What’s Your Super Power” or via the Association for Career and Technical Education’s Facebook page.
Vote often. Every vote counts. Voting ends tonight at midnight.
