Notable — Pitt can earn its sixth win of the season and bowl eligibility by beating North Carolina. The Panthers are coming off a 28-21 upset of Notre Dame, and UNC crushed Virginia, 45-14, last week. … The Tar Heels started the season 1-5, but have won three straight. During their winning streak, they have outscored their opponents 106-43. … UNC is averaging 292.2 passing yards per game, third-best in the ACC. … Pitt senior defensive tackle Aaron Donald is up for no fewer than five national awards. He leads the country in tackles for a loss (2.2 per game) and is seventh in sacks. … Pitt and UNC haven’t played since 2009, but will face off every year as members of the ACC’s Coastal Division.
