The Indiana County Tourist Bureau celebrated its 50th anniversary this year and held a photo contest in honor of the event. Twelve out of more than 200 photo entries will be featured in the tourist bureau’s 2014 calendar, and many others will be seen in upcoming advertisements and website promotions.
Judging criteria asked that the photographs include people, attractions, events, outdoor activities, architecture and/or scenic landscapes that best represent Indiana County.
The grand prize winner in the photo contest, receiving $300, was Crystal Montgomery with her photo “On Deck at the Indiana County Fair.” Others honored were: first place, Rachel Laudermilch, “Fall beauty and IUP”; second place, Lindsey Praksti, “Reflections of Winter”; third place, Carl Erickson, “Tinker Bell visits the Jimmy Stewart Airport”; fourth place, Kenneth Crouse, “One Horsepower Boat”; fifth place, Heather Telthorster, “A Jimmy Stewart Christmas Tree”; and sixth place, Carly Cignetti, “Indiana County in the Fall.”
Photographers and photographs receiving honorable mention awards were Rebecca Ellis, “Jimmy Stewart Statue and Courthouse”; Glenn Himes, Ghost Town Trail”; Misty Zvara, “Buttermilk Falls”; Brandy Martin, “Winter Wonderland”; and Suzann Reken, “Smicksburg in the Fall.”
