Local boy wins 11 golf events

Wilson Putt, 7, had an outstanding first season playing competitive golf. He won 11 events, including a state championship and two tour championships, after entering the season with the goal of breaking 100 at his home course, Meadow Lane. Wilson won five events on the U.S. Kids Golf Pittsburgh Summer Tour, winning at Stroughton Acres, Grove City Country Club, Lanape Heights and Birdsfoot before taking the tour championship at Lake Arthur Country Club and claiming the player of the year cup. On the Fall Tour, he won at Meadowink, Pleasant Valley and Champion Lakes before winning the tour championship at Hannastown Country Club and claiming another player of the year cup. Wilson won the state title at the Penn State Blue Course in July, shooting an 84 over two rounds and winning by two strokes. He is the son of Jesse and Traci Putt, of Indiana.
