Numerous defendants have been named in criminal charges filed before Magisterial District Judge Susanne Steffee, of Homer City.

Criminal complaints and affidavits of probable cause are not evidence of guilt in a criminal case. Defendants are entitled to legal representation and have the right to question the witnesses and evidence presented against them during preliminary hearings in the district court and at trials in the county court of common pleas.

Charged were:

• John Robert Snow II, 43, of Indiana, charged Oct. 22 in a private criminal complaint with writing a bad check in the amount of $1,800 to Luther Ford on March 28. Bad check fees totaled $10. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13.

• Michelle Lynn Williams, 38, of Indiana, charged Oct. 22 by state police with criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance July 27 at 640 Spring St., White Township. The case was transferred to the court of common pleas.

• Jason Frank Naman, 18, of Monroeville, charged Oct. 21 by state police with marijuana possession with intent to use, possession of paraphernalia, DUI – first offense, DUI as a minor – first offense, purchase of alcohol by a minor, failure to stop at a red signal, exceeding the speed limit and careless driving on Sept. 29 on Route 119. Lab results showed a blood alcohol content of 0.047 percent and the presence of a schedule 1 controlled substance, according to police documents. Charges were waived to court.

• Anthony Louis Rocco, 41, of Indiana, charged by state police Oct. 21 with two first offense DUI violations and three summary traffic violations on Sept. 21 on Warren Road in Center Township. According to the criminal complaint, Rocco’s BAC was 0.163.

The case has been transferred to the court of common pleas, according to online court documents.

• Percy Lamont Spearman, 33, of Black Lick, charged by state police Oct. 18 with a second offense DUI, disorderly conduct, driving while license is suspended or revoked and two other summary traffic violations on Oct. 18 on Old Indiana Road in Burrell Township. The criminal complaint did not provide information on Spearman’s BAC. Online court documents indicated that the case is still active.
