Crews respond to house fire in Indiana

Braving bitterly cold temperatures, emergency crews responded to a house fire this morning in the 1400 block of Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough.

Indiana fire department Companies 1 and 2, the Indiana County RIG team and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched at 6:04 a.m. to reports of a structure fire at 1470 Philadelphia Street.

The fire is reported to have started on the back porch of the residence. It was quickly contained, according to reports from the scene. Parts of Philadelphia Street were closed to traffic during the incident.

National Weather Service reports put the temperature this morning at minus 9 degrees, with a wind chill of minus 33.
