Restless Road, the country group that was born on the 2013 season of “The X Factor” on Fox, has been nominated for a Shorty Award.
The band, featuring Zach Beeken, of Indiana, found fame during the show last season and is currently No. 11 on the list of nominees for the “Band” category. The group currently has 568 nominations.
The Shorty Awards, this year holding its sixth annual ceremony, “honor the best of social media, recognizing the people and organizations producing real-time short-form content across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Instagram, Vine, and the rest of the social Web,” according to its website.
During last year’s awards, more than 2 million tweet nominations were sent.
The awards are broken down in to two main categories: awards for everyone, and awards for brands and agencies.
These then are broken down in to many more subcategories.
Last year, One Direction, a band that also got its start on the United Kingdom’s “The X Factor,” took the Shorty Award in the band category last year.
Other winners included the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sports category and Temple University for the best use of social media in real life category.
