Pine Township to hold discount food sale
January 22, 2014 10:45 AM

The Pine Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold its monthly discount food sale on Saturday at the station in Heilwood. Doors will open at 4, merchandise arrives for preview at 5 and the sale will begin at 6. The sale usually wraps up around 7:30, depending on the size of the crowd.

There will be a variety of discounted grocery items to purchase, but the inventory varies so greatly from month to month that it’s impossible to predict what will be there.

In general, a variety of frozen foods, meats, cheese and other dairy products are usually available. Sometimes there will also be breads, chips, crackers, cookies, etc. The fresh produce vendor will not be there again until spring.

This is a pay-as-you-go, cash-only sale, not an auction, although it is done auction-style with runners that will bring bidders the merchandise and make change as needed.

Smaller denominations of cash are greatly appreciated. Those who must bring larger bills are asked see Keith, who will provide smaller bills, before the sale begins.

Buyers are asked to bring their own bags and boxes.

The kitchen will be open prior to and during the sale.

For more information, contact Amy at (814) 951-0209 or the fire station at (814) 948-4438 and leave a message.
