Lasagna dinner

PURCHASE LINE — A lasagna dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Purchase Line United Methodist Church, in the activity building.

The cost is a donation. The dinner is sponsored by the PLUM Youth Group, and proceeds benefit the group.

Video series

Author and Bible teacher John Bevere will present a video teaching series, “A Heart Ablaze,” beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Worship Center, 500 Lenz Road, White Township.

The 12-week video series is based on Bevere’s book of the same title. The series will continue two days later at 6:30 p.m. and on subsequent Tuesdays.

Turkey dinner

RURAL VALLEY — The NuValley Presbyterian Women will hold a Presidents Day turkey dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the NuValley Presbyterian Church.

There is no guarantee of ticket availability at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, call (724) 783-6982 or (724) 783-7169. Tickets are $8.50 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children ages 4 and younger.

Swiss steak dinner

HOMER CITY — Homer City United Methodist Church, Main and Church streets, Homer City, will hold a Swiss steak dinner on Feb. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The dinner includes mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, coleslaw, a beverage and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 12 and free to children 4 and younger.

Pancake and sausage dinner

HOMER CITY — The annual Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. March 4 at Hope Lutheran Church, 35 Ridge Ave., Homer City.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger. All proceeds go to ELCA Men in Mission. Dine in or carry out. For tickets, call the church office at (724) 479-9431.

Faith Friends

SPRING CHURCH — The Spring Church Lutheran Church Spring Session of Faith Friends in kindergarten through sixth grade will begin March 4 and continue each Tuesday evening through April 8. Each session begins at 5 p.m. with a light supper followed by a Bible story and craft. Evening sessions will conclude at 6:30 p.m.

If school is canceled during the day due to weather, Faith Friends will be canceled as well. The theme is “Trust in God.”

Trip to the Holy Land

The Rev. Paul Morris is planning to lead a group trip to the Holy Land. The group will depart on Nov. 10 for a 10-day trip that includes visits to Galilee, Nazareth, the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem and the Garden Tomb.

The travel/study program has been arranged by Educational Opportunities, a Christian tour company whose main objective is to provide pastors and laity with affordable, first-class learning experiences in the land of the Bible. The tour will include sightseeing, daily devotions and informative lectures.

The cost of the pilgrimage is an all-inclusive price of $3,346 and leaves from Pittsburgh.

Catholic school applications

St. Bernard Regional Catholic School, 300 Clairvaux Drive, White Township, is accepting applications to register for the 2014-15 school year for all grades from 3-year-old preschool through eighth grade.

Tuition assistance is available for all grades, and beginning this year a Tuition Transfer Grant is also available for grades one through eight.

This is a grant that will be offered to students transferring from a public, private, charter or home school.
