March 06, 2014 10:45 AM

A program on maple sugaring is planned for this weekend.

The program at the Kinter Farm, located on Musser Road near Home, will demonstrate all aspects of a modern maple sugaring operation from collection of the sap to the making of the maple syrup.

The program will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday and will be repeated at the same time on Sunday.

The Kinter family will host the program. Alan Kinter has operated a maple sugaring operation at the farm since the early 1960s. This is a free, family-friendly event sponsored by Friends of the Parks. Parents, grandparents and children of all ages are welcome.

Registration is not required. For more information on the program or directions to the Kinter Farm, call Indiana County Parks and Trails at (724) 463-8636 or email indparks@gmail.com.
