A maple sugaring demonstration and open house was held Saturday at the Kinter Farm on Musser Road near Home.

Sierra Saint, 12, from Murrysville, in the photo above, gathered sap from a tree. She was there with her father, James; her mother, Hilary; sister, Kylie, 10; and brother, Liam, 2.

Carl Kinter demonstrated how the sap is cooked down and maple syrup is made. The Kinter family has been operating the farm since the early 1960s.

The program is being repeated today at 2 p.m. It is a family-friendly event sponsored by Friends of the Parks. (Teri Enciso/Gazette photo)
