Numerous defendants have been named in criminal charges filed before Magisterial District Judge Guy Haberl, of Indiana.

Criminal complaints and affidavits of probable cause are not evidence of guilt in a criminal case. Defendants are entitled to legal representation and have the right to question the witnesses and evidence presented against them during preliminary hearings in the district court and at trials in the county court of common pleas. Charged are:

• Jeffrey M. Donovan, 21, of Hollidaysburg, Blair County, charged Jan. 8 by Indiana Borough police with possession of drug paraphernalia at 4:06 p.m. Dec. 20 at 1175 Philadelphia St.

Police responded to a report of drug paraphernalia found by a realty company during a rental inspection. The charge was changed to possession of a small amount of marijuana. Donovan pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana and was ordered to pay $663 in fines and costs.

• John D. Gallagher, 23, of Camp Hill, Cumberland County, charged Jan. 8 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 3:02 a.m. Dec. 15 at 296 S. Seventh St.

Officers detected the smell of marijuana at an apartment while seeking witnesses to a nearby retail theft. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12.

• Zachary Penrose, 20, of Country Lane, Indiana; Kyle K. Edgar, 21, of North Sixth Street, Indiana; and Brandon Good, 20, of Forest Ridge Road, Indiana, charged Jan. 8 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 9:56 p.m. Dec. 21 at 1008 Philadelphia St.

While investigating suspicious activity, officers detected the smell of marijuana coming from an apartment. Penrose, Edgar and Good pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana and were ordered to pay $663 each in fines and costs. The drug paraphernalia charges were withdrawn.

• Thomas C. Barclay, 22, of West Church Street, Homer City, charged Jan. 8 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 9:06 a.m. Dec. 27 at 541 Water St.

While conducting a follow-up of a recent theft investigation, officers detected the smell of marijuana. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 20.

• William E. Kepple, 24, of Five Points Road, Indiana, charged Jan. 8 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a controlled substance, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 2:36 a.m. Dec. 28 in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue.

Police observed an inoperable taillight on Kepple’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The smell of marijuana was detected upon contact. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19.

• Jared A. Pounds, 24, of Rearick Road, Shelocta, charged Jan. 8 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 2:40 a.m. Dec. 29 in the 500 block of Gompers Avenue.

While on patrol, police detected the smell of marijuana and determined it was coming from a stationary vehicle, occupied by Pounds. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.

• Rachel M. Geletei, 35, of Josephine Avenue, Indiana, charged Jan. 9 by state police with possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana at 1:04 p.m. Nov. 15 in the 500 block of Center Street.

During a traffic stop, Geletei, a passenger in the vehicle, admitted to being in possession of drug paraphernalia. Geletei pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana and was ordered to pay $663 in fines and costs. The drug paraphernalia charge was withdrawn.
