Work will begin later this month to replace the bridge carrying Route 403 over a tributary to the Conemaugh River in East Wheatfield Township.
According to a release from the state Department of Transportation, Route 403 will close between Route 711 and Grange Hall Road on March 24 at 7 a.m.
Posted detour signs will route traffic to Route 56 in Johnstown, to Route 22 and back to Route 403.
This structurally deficient bridge, built in 1930, will be replaced with a box culvert, and is expected to open to traffic before the end of May.
This $816,516 replacement project is being done by J. C. Lee Construction and Supply Co.
