HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: Indiana's Stever takes first place in high jump at TSTCA meet

Freshman high jumper Jess Stever brought home a first-place finish for the Indiana girls’ track and field team by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association Invitational on Saturday.

The Indiana boys’ track and field team placed eighth in the team standings by scoring 28 team points, and the girls’ team took 11th place with 23 points. There were 34 participating teams at the meet.

Aaryn Gray placed third in the javelin with a throw of 125-7, and the 3,200 relay team of Kacey Raible, Lorraine Yerger, Abbey Myers and Melanie Zolocsik took fourth with a time of 10 minutes, 16 seconds.

On the boys’ side, Corey Denlinger placed second in javelin (177-5), the 3,200 relay team of Sam Lenze, Adam Lenze, Ryan Louther and Darrious Carter finished third (8:33) and Carter finished fourth in the triple jump (42-4).

Chris McConnell cleared 5-10 in the high jump for sixth place, Louther took sixth in the 3,200 in 10:10 and Jacob Kester took eighth in the pole vault (12-0).

Indiana travels to Latrobe on Wednesday.
