The PennDOT Worker Memorial was created to honor the more than 80 PennDOT workers killed since 1970, and to raise awareness among motorists to give their full attention while driving through work zones.

PennDOT encourages drivers to follow basic safety tips, such as driving the posted speed limit, staying alert to flaggers and maintaining safe distances between vehicles.

The memorial was set up Thursday on the lawn of the PennDOT building in White Township.
