IUP ROUNDUP: Softball season comes to an end

SHIPPENSBURG — IUP’s postseason run came to an end Saturday when the Crimson Hawks lost to Mansfield 9-4 in an elimination game of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional softball tournament at Shippensburg University.

The Crimson Hawks got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but Mansfield scored five in the third and held on for the win. The Mountaineers had nine hits in the game, including three doubles and a triple.

Allison Viguers had two RBIs to lead IUP, and Hannah Mercer and Christi Mauk each drove in a run. Alexa Campbell allowed five runs and took the loss.

IUP finished its season with a 32-17 record.

 

LACROSSE: Three IUP players were selected to the Division II South All-Region team by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Taylor Norwood and Amy Weinberg earned first-team honors, and Drew Hayden was named to the second team. All three players were first-team All-PSAC selections.
