BRUSH VALLEY TOWNSHIP — Two drivers were injured in a head-on crash Monday on Route 259 just north of Rhine Road, officials said.

State police at Indiana reported Kendra Cruz, 30, of New Florence, was sent by Life Flight helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. A spokesman said she was in serious condition this morning.

Nathan Blystone, 23, of Aultman, was transported by Citizens’ Ambulance Service to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where a spokeswoman said no information about him was available.

Blystone’s southbound car failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the road, and crossed the center line into the path of Cruz’s northbound car, according to troopers.

The Indiana County 911 center dispatched emergency teams to the scene at 10:55 a.m.

Members of the Brush Valley fire department worked to extricate Cruz from the wreckage of her car.
