IUP stays hot in volleyball

IUP won for the sixth time in eight matches, beating Mercyhurst, 29-27, 25-22, 25-19, 25-14, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division women’s volleyball action Friday night.

The Crimson Hawks continued a late-season push to make the playoffs, improving to 8-11 in the PSAC West. They trail Gannon (11-8) for the final spot with three matches left for each team. The teams meet this evening at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

Elizabeth Sova had 14 kills and five blocks to lead IUP. Ericka Lentz and Meghan Schneider each added eight kills, and Lindsay Moeller had 35 assists. Kelly Barnes had a team-high 21 digs, and Moeller added 18.
