The Penguins halted their losing streak at three games with a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators tonight at Consol Energy Center.

The Predators took a 1-0 lead on a bang-bang play at 2:28 of the first period. A shot from the right point by Kevin Klein hit the stick of the Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin, the skate of the Penguins’ Olli Maatta and then deflected off of Nashville’s Gabriel Bourque and went under the pads of Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Pascal Dupuis ended a 12-game goal drought to tie it for the Penguins. Brandon Sutter won a faceoff at the left dot of his offensive zone. The puck went to teammate Matt D’Agostini, who set up Dupuis for a blast from just above the circle at 12:36.

The assist was the first point for D’Agostini with the Penguins.

James Neal, who has been hurt much of the season, got his first goal when he tipped in a shot from the center point by Evgeni Malkin for a power-play goal at 15:56 of the first period, giving the Penguins a 2-1 lead.

The Penguins pulled away in the second period.

Kris Letang, who missed the game-day skate because of illness, pushed the lead to 3-1 at 7:58 of the second period when he pinched in deep and took a feed from Malkin, who was behind the net. Letang’s shot trickled in off of goaltender Marek Mazanec.

With 1:23 left in the second period, Brandon Sutter upped the Penguins’ lead to 4-1 with a rising shot from the top of the left circle that clanged in off of the far post.

The Penguins play again Saturday night at New Jersey.
