STUDENT OF THE MONTH: Douglas Hough

The Lions Club of Rural Valley has named Douglas Hough as West Shamokin High School’s Student of the Month for September. DJ is the son of Brian and Nicole Hough, of Dayton.

DJ has taken part in various activities throughout his school years that include captain of the varsity soccer team, volleyball, student council vice president, class secretary, LEO Club board of directors, SADD, student representative to the Armstrong School District board of directors, Envirothon, National Honor Society, student ambassador program, newspaper, student reporter for the Indiana Gazette’s School News section, Chorus (County, District), Tri-M, HOBY ambassador, RYLA ambassador and PSBA conference delegate.

Outside of school, DJ is a member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Yatesboro, where he serves as an altar server, works with CCD and volunteers at church fish fries.

His plans are to go to Grove City College for primary education with a background in special education.
