Two softball players, Alaina Laverick, left, and Megan Risinger, were recently selected to compete in the 19th annual Queen of Diamonds Showcase North held last weekend at Kent State University.

The event is part of the largest fastpitch softball showcase in the U.S. and attracts athletes from more than 30 states and two Canadian provinces.

Alaina, a sophomore at Penns Manor High School, is a catcher, and Megan, a junior at Marion Center High School, is a pitcher.

In addition to their high school teams, they play summer ball for the 16U Armstrong Force out of Elderton, the Kittanning fall team in the Eastern Girls Fastpitch League and the 18U Clymer Slovak Club summer team in the Northern Cambria league. (Submitted photos)
