APOLLO-RIDGE 52, LEECHBURG 4: Apollo-Ridge allowed four points in the first quarter and blanked Leechburg the rest of the way in a WPIAL Section 1-AA game.

The Vikings improved to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in the section.

Eleven players scored for Apollo-Ridge, led by Julia DeMeno with 14 points.

Apollo-Ridge welcomes Burrell tonight.

GREAT COMMISSION 44, CALVARY BAPTIST 30: Calvary Baptist got off to a slow start and couldn’t bounce back against Great Commission of Altoona in a non-conference game in Clymer.

The Patriots (7-2) fell behind 13-4 in the first quarter and trailed 27-11 at halftime. Calvary Baptist outscored Great Commission 19-17 in the second half.

“The first half did us in,” Calvary Baptist coach Mike Boole said. “We had a chat at halftime and said to show some heart and not roll over and play dead. We had a great second half, but it wasn’t enough.”

Megan Plants led Calvary Baptist with 17 points, and Kayla Chambers scored 11 and grabbed eight rebounds. Brittany Prugh also raked in eight rebounds, and Rachel Covato came up with four steals.

Calvary Baptist plays Huntingdon Christian in Calvary Christian of Huntingdon’s tournament this evening.
