Piranhas compete in state swimming tournament

A host of swimmers from the YMCA of Indiana County qualified for the state championships, which were held in State College on March 21 through 23.

Seventeen earned medals or ribbons.

The state qualifiers were, first row, from left, Preston Kessler, Anthony Scott, Isaac Griffith, Kyle Ickes, Madeline Menta, Allie Rutledge, Hunter Fanella and Anna Margita; second row, Payton Rayko, Brooke Boyer, Grace Margita, Harley Kessler, Nathan Kerchensky, Gage Hess, Lindsey Griffith, Lauren Krecota, Kenzi Kessler, Lauren Bertig, Clara Sherwood and Kara Gibbon; and third row, Sarah Henderson, Mackenzie Donahue, Grant Hess, Sophie Manges, Adam Gordish, Gabby Bobak, Frank Bevevino, Anna Paccapaniccia and Anna Manges.

Medals and ribbons were awarded to the top 12 in each event.

Placing for Indiana were Preston Kessler, Scott, Griffith, Ickes, Menta, Rutledge, Fanella, Anna Margita, Rayko, Boyer, Grace Margita, Kessler, Krecota, Kenzi Kessler, Gibbon, Paccapaniccia and Gordish.
